Footsteps from the Future
Beyond the screen window, autumn cicadas sing.
You,from the future, softly stepped into this now,
Your footsteps echoing in the heart's secret core.
I rise, push open the door to seek,
But only see a single leaf, drifting down.
— Inspired by the 2008 Japanese time-slip film "Tokyo Girl". It depicts how Mihu, a girl from the future, and Jiro, a boy from the past—both sharing literary dreams—connect through a phone that transcends time, allowing their souls from two different eras to meet. I am deeply fond of the meaning behind the name "Mihu", and have borrowed it for this poem.
