       Still on This Shore
Loneliness is the necessary condition for focus
A suspension bridge between you and Him
Only permitted to crossed by a sleepwalker in dark night
Leaving no memory
Waking suddenly to find myself still on this shore
—— Loneliness is the necessary condition for focus, and focus is the threshold of concentration. Once you cross the threshold, you curiously ascend the steps—a staircase of samadhi, cycling endlessly up and down.
(In 1960, the Dutch artist M.C. Escher created "Ascending and Descending," a work depicting an infinite, cyclical staircase. It reflects the geometric paradox known as the Penrose stairs, evoking a sense of perpetual motion and visual illusion.
(*Note: Roger Penrose, a British mathematician, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2020 for "discovering that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity.")
