This formulation examines the chain relation among the observer (O), the boundary of zero (∂(0)), and memory (M)—as the connective medium linking subject and object, mind and matter.
It proposes a mathematical-philosophical question concerning “something arising from nothing” and the conditions for its stability:
O = ∂(0) = f(O): the observer itself is the boundary of zero, and through self-reference (O = f(O)) attains a stable fixed-point state.
lim M → 0: memory, which connects the subjective and objective worlds, approaches zero—suggesting an extreme microstate or meditative condition.
M ≠ ∅: the crucial point. Although M approaches zero, it is not empty.
This describes a critical threshold: as all phenomena fall into stillness (M → 0), so long as they do not collapse into absolute void (M ≠ ∅), the observer (O), at the boundary of zero, can sustain existence through reflexive awareness (f).
This is a geometric demonstration of “subtle existence within the vacuum,” pointing to the necessity of a residual spark of awareness at the limit.

In mathematics, O = f(O) indicates that O is a fixed point of function f. When a system acts upon itself without further change, a dynamic equilibrium is reached.
From a perspective of mysticism and spiritual science:
O may represent the observer, the object, or the origin (circle).
f represents observation, operation, or transformation.
The equality signifies the identity of subject and object at the highest level.
When the observer, through observation, encounters only itself, all dualities dissolve.
This becomes a symbol of universal self-awareness.
In traditional internal alchemy, meditation upon an empty circle reflects the primordial Taiji (more fundamental than the yin–yang symbol), resonating with O = f(O).

Here, however, time is defined as the rate of change of distinction relative to the rate of change of observation:

This suggests that time is not an external absolute, but a cognitive construct:
Δdistinction: the number of distinctions drawn within consciousness
Δobservation: the frequency or depth of observation
If distinctions increase while observation stagnates, time accelerates.
If distinctions dissolve under total observation, time approaches zero.
This resonates with George Spencer-Brown’s 《Laws of Form 》and second-order cybernetics, where distinction and observer are inseparable.

Spiritual metaphor: This may describe a state of non-duality. When imposed categories and boundaries are withdrawn, what remains is an undivided, fluid whole beyond definition.
