—— 都蘭，台東東海岸阿美族語Etolan音譯，早年族人開墾時把挖出來的石頭堆疊起來，名為Etolan，意即石堆之地。後倚都蘭山，前臨浩瀚太平洋，我從小的夢幻之鄉。
On the Way Back from Visiting a Friend in Etolan
Night without end
walking alone in the dark

I myself am the light
— Etolan is a transliteration of an Amis name from Taiwan’s eastern coast in Taitung.
In earlier days, when the Amis people first cultivated the land, they piled together the stones unearthed from the earth and called the place Etolan — “the land of stone heaps.”
With Dulan Mountain behind it and the vast Pacific Ocean before it,
it has been the landscape of my dreams since childhood.
