You know that tomorrow
is quietly fading
within the future that is already passing.
As black holes struggle
to devour the scattered fragments
of human language,
how brilliant, after all,
can a homeless wandering asteroid truly be?
You also understand
that eternity is always overbaking
both reason and emotion,
and that the so-called history,
deceptively sustained by inertia,
has long driven us into absolute despair.
In a world endlessly quarrelling and contending,
how could one possibly erase it,
delete it entirely,
from an imagined star chart?
—— On this tiny planet,
a human world driven by greed and fear,
forever quarrelling and contending,
may already be quietly fading
within the future that is passing away.
Fragments of language piece together
an illusion that almost seems convincing,
or perhaps we are merely a species
with a slightly larger vocabulary.
Could this be the essence of culture?
I once believed so.
Yet in truth,
we have never really lived.
