An unexpected encounter with autumn light in the afternoon

To exist is to walk yesterday as if

      —— Yesterday I went down the hill to pay my bills at Seven-Eleven, and picked up some coffee and a bagel. As usual, I headed to Dapochi to while away the hours. There I happened upon a friend who'd travelled all the way from Los Angeles. We struck up a pleasant conversation and parted ways. I'm writing this down in memory.
